The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque ranks 6 out of 10 Luxury Compact SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of published reviews and test drives of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, as well as reliability and safety data.

Whats new :

The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has good off-road abilities and a high-quality interior, but its poor rear visibility and low reliability score may limit its appeal.
All 2013 Range Rover Evoque models come with a turbocharged, four-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and Land Rover’s Terrain Response system. Terrain Response adjusts the engine, transmission and traction settings to accommodate paved, grassy, gravely, snowy, muddy, rutty and sandy conditions. With this system, critics say the Range Rover Evoque excels off-road. Although many luxury compact SUVs offer V6 engines, auto reviewers are quite satisfied with the turbocharged engine’s performance. They say it accelerates well from a stop and passes and merges on the highway without hesitation. Test drivers also say the automatic transmission is smooth, but one thinks that at times, it shifts abruptly. Achieving an EPA-estimated 20/28 mpg city/highway, the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel economy ratings are good for a luxury SUV with standard all-wheel drive. While critics agree that the Range Rover Evoque has strong brakes, some aren’t satisfied with its handling abilities. They say the steering is light and lacks feeling. Test drivers also say that the Range Rover Evoque’s performance is refined both on- and off-road, but that its ride is most comfortable and controlled when the terrain system is in the on-road setting. The 2013 Range Rover Evoque trumps its classmates with impressive off-road capabilities, but its below-average reliability brings it to the back of the pack.
The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is one of the most expensive models in the class, but according to reviewers, it's worth the money. They say the five-seat cabin is both attractive and well-made. It is also equipped with a lot of standard features. Test drivers add that the standard stereo has great sound quality, and say the infotainment system is easy to use. Reviewers agree that the Range Rover Evoque’s front seats are spacious and comfortable, but they think the Range Rover Evoque’s exterior design hampers rear visibility. Also, they mention that the sloping roof decreases rear-seat headroom in the two-door model.
  • "With an efficient 240-horsepower turbo-4 engine, good aerodynamics and a small, lightweight body, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) Evoque reinterprets the classic Range Rover formula with a renewed sense of style and a newfound environmental conscience." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Eliciting stares and cheers with the same ease that it dominates mountains and deserts with, the Evoque is indeed a rock star." -- Motor Trend (2012)
  • "The … Range Rover Evoque is an exceptionally good blend of daily practicality, luxury, performance and utility – in that order." -- Road and Track (2012)
  • "Overall, the … Range Rover Evoque offers up a lot more character than other vehicles in its class. ... Relative to its main competitors - the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class - the Evoque loses out in terms of cargo space and, in the case of the Coupe, rear-seat access." -- Edmunds (2012)
